Christian Benitez Died Of Heart Failure

According to El Jaish, the Qatari based football club where Christian Benitez (27), died few days ago, his death was caused by heart failure.

The highly energetic striker from Ecuador who joined the club a couple of weeks ago, died a day after playing his first match for the club.


The statement from the club says, "The official medical reports were issued by official state entities and stated that the sudden death was caused by heart failure."

It added, "Sadness and sorrow prevailed all over the club after hearing the sad news." Earlier on Tuesday the president of the Ecuador Football Federation, Mr Luis Chiriboga said that the striker was taken to hospital due to stomach pains where he then had cardiorepiratory arrest and died.

After a brief ceremony at the Doha International Airport, the body will be flown back to Quito the capital of Ecuador on Thursday with the family members.

Christian Benitez, played for Birmingham City in the UK and was a member of the America club in Mexico that won the league title last season. He also played in the 2006 World Cup in Germany for his country.

Christian has three young children. I pray the Almighty God to give the family the heart bear their lost. The football community has just lost a very talented footballer.
