Benitez Calls Signing Higuain A Quantum Leap

Gonzalo Higuain, 25, who was Arsenal's number one target before negotiations stalled with his club Real Madrid, has pass his medical with the Italian Serie A team, Napoli. The young Argentine striker will be leaving Real Madrid for €40m.

The new coach of Napoli, Rafeal Benitez, was thrilled that the club could sign the player.

Rafa, told the Italian sports newspaper, Corriere dello Sport, "We were looking for a quality player." A quality striker to replace Edison Cavani, who has joined PSG in Paris.

"We have signed a player who comes from Real Madrid and we have signed a striker who has scored a hatful of goals and who will adapt very well to our system - an attacking system. We needed a player like this."

"We are all working together to ensure the players we want arrive. We have signed players who will do well for Napoli for the next three or four years," he said.

Gonzalo Higuain, who was born in Brest France, played for River Plate of Argentina from where he joined Real in 2006 and scored 107 league goals in seven seasons he spent there

Rafael "Rafa" Benitez, was so happy that he called the signing a "quantum leap."

So Higuain will not be playing in the EPL (English Premier League) this season as some Arsenal fans were hoping for.
