Hiddink Quits FC Anzhi

The Dutch coach of Russia's, Dagastan club, FC Anzhi, Guus Hiddink, has resigned his post with immediate effect. His replacement is another dutchman Rene Meulensteen, the former assistant coach with Sir Alex Ferguson at the Manchester United.

The official website of the club, stated that "FC Anzhi has accepted the request of the head coach to terminate their employment relationship.

The club sincerely thanks Guus Hiddink for his significant contribution to the club and wishes him success in his future career," the statement said.

Hiddink himself said that, it was not an easy decision for him, that he had always believed that his mission in the club will come to an end once he has been able to bring up the club to the level where it could stand on it's own without his presence

"The decision was not easy for me, but I've always said that my mission with Anzhi would end when the club was able to develop and grow by itself without my participation."

He believed that the time has come for him to step aside from the job.
"Now that time has come. I am convinced that the club has a great future and I am glad I was part of this large-scale football project," he concluded.
