His announcement came on the hills of Marco van Basten, the coach of FC Heerenveen doing the same with his club. Van Basten said he is quiting at the end of the season, because he does not have the correct feeling to continue with the club.

Both Ronald and Erwin started their senior and professional career as players, with the club their father, Martin Koeman played for - the Eredivisie club, FC Groningen.

Their father Martin who also played for the team Marco van Basten is currently coaching - Heerenveen died last December.

Ronald was asked at the press conference, what he will be doing after the season ends and he has no job. He replied that he will spend time with his family untill someone with a good offer calls him.

And he also wants to take the time to reflect on the death of his father. As aforementioned his father Martin died last two months. His father played a match for the Dutch national team (De Oranje).
